Lac Courte Oreilles - Sawyer, County
Nestled in the heart of the Hayward areas vacationland is the famous Lac Courte Oreilles. Providing enjoyment for the entire family, this 5,038 acre clear water lake delivers excellent fishing, swimming, sailing, and abundant recreational opportunities.
Located nine miles south of Hayward, Lac Courte Oreilles was named by the early French fur traders - the name translates to "The Lake of Short Ears." With over 26 meandering miles of shoreline for boaters to enjoy, this amazing fishing mecca is the largest natural lake in Sawyer County and one of the 10 largest in Wisconsin.
